The growth of teeth represents a certain milestone in a child's life. Parents who have experienced teething in their children know that sleepless nights , crying, drooling, grumpiness and permanent dissatisfaction of the child are typical signals of this period. The period when the teeth start to cut is around 4-8 months. However, it is definitely not a fixed term, and some children cut their teeth even later, around 12 months of age.

The teething process basically means that the teeth begin to erupt through the gums. This process is long-lasting and that is why this period is often difficult for parents. Typical symptoms are restlessness in the child, drooling, the need to gnaw on toys, crying, restless sleep and waking up from sleep. The child is irritable and often cries . Reddened and swollen gums may also appear during pruning. Nasal discharge may also be present. A seawater solution that opens the airways can help. Special teethers that massage the gums and make it easier to cut the gums are also suitable. There are also special gels that are applied to the gums and slightly numb the pain.

Pain during teething can also be manifested by less appetite , refusal to breastfeed or fever. Increased temperature or fever are often discussed during teething. Some doctors say that teething in children does not cause fever , a maximum increase in body temperature of half a degree Celsius. The body temperature can increase for approximately 3 to 5 days during teething. However, if the temperature rises above 38 °C, it is advisable to contact the pediatrician so that you do not confuse the pruning with an infection, inflammation or some other disease.

Many mothers and parents agree that the child's elevated temperature, around 37.2-38 °C, appeared for approximately 3 to 5 days during teething. In several cases, however, mothers contacted or visited a pediatrician as a precaution to rule out another disease. There are also mothers who write in discussions that teething does not cause a fever and that it is probably another concomitant disease or infection. With a temperature higher than 38 °C, it is always better to visit a pediatrician.
